Keratocyst (cutaneous cyst) associated with a wisdom tooth
Keratocyst associated with impacted teeth
After treatment
As noted in previous cases the keratocyst is benign, yet very aggressive.
Odontogenic myxoma
Compound Odontoma
Compound Odontoma
Ameloblastoma (benign tumor of the jaw) associated with a wisdom tooth
Torus: abnormal bone growth
Torus of the lower jaw
Torus of the palate
Traumatic Bone Cyst
Osteoma: bone hyperdensity
In the last case the wisdom tooth (‘third molar’) is in a bad position, preventing the placement of crowns on adjacent teeth.
Dentigerous Cyst (or follicular cyst)
Periapical Cyst (at the root of the tooth)
The periapical cyst is the most common cyst to present in the jaw. It is associated with dental cavities, a poorly performed endodontic procedure or a poorly or badly performed root canal. This creates a cyst in the tooth root that grows slowly and leads to bone destruction, as shown in the example. The relevant bone reconstruction can be seen below in the fourth image.
Dentigerous Cyst with a tooth bud in the upper jaw
In the last picture we can see the proper bone reconstruction performed by Dr. Armando Torres Castillo, to treat the patient with the dentigerous cyst.
